- Threatening the president
Gachagua is accused of threatening President William Ruto in a tense meeting where he allegedly banged a desk after Ruto denied him KSh 8 billion. According to the impeachment motion, Gachagua demanded this amount as compensation for the votes he delivered from the Mt Kenya region. He calculated the sum by multiplying each vote by KSh 4000 and was reportedly ready to resign if his demand wasn’t met. - Corruption
The impeachment motion also claims Gachagua has been involved in corruption since taking office in 2022. He is accused of amassing KSh 5.7 billion in just two years, despite earning an annual salary of KSh 12 million. According to the mover, Gachagua should have earned no more than KSh 24 million, raising suspicions about the source of his wealth.

Gachagua is also accused of abusing his position by diverting materials intended for the Malindi-Kilifi Highway project to build a private road leading to a hotel linked to him in Kilifi. This misuse of government resources is one of the key allegations in the 40-page impeachment document. - Promoting tribalism
The deputy president is further accused of promoting tribalism by favoring the Mt Kenya region in his policies and rhetoric. His push for the ‘one man, one vote, one shilling’ slogan is seen as fueling ethnic divisions and has become a central issue in the impeachment case against him. - Sponsoring violent Gen Z protests
Gachagua is also accused of backing violent Gen Z protests. He publicly criticized the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for charging his allies over the protests, suggesting that this was part of a broader plan to build a case for his impeachment. He pointed to charges against MPs James Gakuya and Benjamin Gathiru Mejja Donk as examples of this. - Threatening, intimidating, and condemning state officers and MPs
The motion accuses Gachagua of threatening and publicly criticizing state officers, including National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Noordin Haji. Some Mt Kenya MPs also claim he incited voters against them. Additionally, Gachagua is accused of leaking state secrets and opposing major Cabinet decisions. - Allegations of bribery
Gachagua has alleged that some MPs were offered KSh 5 million in bribes to support his impeachment. He claimed that Kirinyaga Senator James Murango rejected the bribe and that Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina was approached and intimidated to back the impeachment.
