President William Ruto fully embraced Gen Z culture on Sunday, October 20, as he danced to the viral hit “Anguka Nayo” during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kwale County.
The newly constructed Kwale Stadium was buzzing with excitement as the President took the stage in the absence of ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
As part of the entertainment lineup, the duo known as Wadagliz performed what many are hailing as the biggest song of 2024, and they certainly delivered.
At one point during their performance, a visibly entertained President stood up and was seen swaying to the catchy rhythm.

Interestingly, the hit song “Anguka Nayo,” which boasts over 7.8 million views on YouTube, was released in July, during a peak period of tension between the youth and the Kenya Kwanza government.
The song emerged as a powerful anthem for the Gen-Z protests advocating for the controversial Finance Bill to be scrapped, quickly becoming synonymous with the movement.
Just a week prior, ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua showcased a different side of himself when he was spotted dancing to “Anguka Nayo” alongside a well-known Asian influencer.
On October 13, amid his intense battle against impeachment, Gachagua took some time to visit a mall in Karen, where he engaged with supporters while accompanied by his wife, Dorcas. Many fans gathered around him, eager to snap a photo with one of Kenya’s most prominent political figures.
Another significant moment during the Mashujaa Day celebrations was when President Ruto presented a KSh 720 million cheque to Jua Kali artisans from Kibera, aimed at supporting the affordable housing project.
