President William Ruto extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 US presidential election, expressing hope for strengthened Kenya-US relations.

During their conversation, Ruto and Trump discussed:
– Strengthening trade ties and enhancing economic cooperation between Kenya and the US.
– Deepening security cooperation, with a focus on addressing shared regional threats, including terrorism.

– Ruto updated Trump on Kenya’s leadership role in the Haiti Multinational Security Support Mission and explored potential US support for Kenya’s peacekeeping initiatives.

Donald Trump’s victory in the tightly contested election marked his return to the White House as the 47th President of the United States.

Following the results, President William Ruto reached out to Trump in a phone call on Friday, November 8, to discuss strengthening Kenya-US relations and exploring areas of mutual interest.

In an official statement, Ruto shared details of their conversation, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration between Kenya and the United States.

“I had a telephone conversation with US President-Elect Donald Trump and congratulated him on his election as the 47th President of the United States,” Ruto stated.

He expressed optimism for Trump’s term, particularly in advancing shared goals that benefit both nations.

Ruto underscored the value of enhancing Kenya-US trade partnerships and fostering strong security cooperation, both of which have been pivotal in addressing regional threats such as terrorism.

“We discussed areas of mutual interest that are of benefit to the citizens of our two countries, including trade and investment, security and good governance,” he said. 

Kenya’s leadership in the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti was a key topic during the discussion between Ruto and Trump.

The peacekeeping mission, backed by the United Nations, seeks to address ongoing violence and instability in Haiti.

Ruto briefed Trump on Kenya’s role in the initiative and emphasized potential areas for US support and collaboration.

“I briefed President Trump on the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti and possible areas of cooperation with the US government on this important conflict resolution initiative,” he revealed.

Gachagua Celebrates Donald Trump’s Victory

Meanwhile, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua praised Trump’s resilience and celebrated his return to the pinnacle of US politics following a hard-fought campaign.

Gachagua described Trump’s victory as one of the “greatest political comebacks of our generation.” He emphasized Trump’s “never-say-die” attitude, attributing it as the key to his success despite numerous challenges.
