UDA SG Hassan Omar Hints at Kithure Kindiki as Ruto’s 2032 Successor

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General Hassan Omar has called on Mt Kenya East leaders to rally behind Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as a potential successor to President William Ruto in 2032.

Omar emphasized that if Kindiki’s region firmly supports him, it is likely that President Ruto will endorse him for the top seat. He pointed out that Kindiki’s recent appointment as deputy president positions him favorably to take over the presidency in the future.

Speaking in Embu, Omar underscored the importance of Mt Kenya East standing united behind Kindiki to solidify their chances of producing the next president.

Who Will William Ruto Endorse in 2032?

Speaking in Embu County on Sunday, November 17, UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Omar suggested that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki could be the Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s presidential candidate in 2032.

Omar urged residents of Mt Kenya East to rally behind DP Kindiki, emphasizing that he is well-positioned to succeed President William Ruto. He further noted that the region has a significant opportunity to secure the presidency and encouraged them not to squander this chance by withholding their support for Kindiki.

“I tell you that if you organize yourselves, Ruto will have no reason except to pass the button to Kindiki. Then after Kindiki, we shall arrange ourselves with another candidate. You need to plan yourself well, God has given you (Mt Kenya East) an opportunity and you should not squander it,” Omar said.

Will Mt Kenya Back Kalonzo in 2027?

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has thrown his weight behind Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the 2027 presidential election.

Kioni expressed confidence that the Mt Kenya region, under the Gema voting bloc, will support Kalonzo in his bid to unseat President Ruto. He revealed that extensive grassroots consultations among leaders from the Gikuyu, Embu, and Meru communities have been underway to forge a political alliance with the Kamba community, positioning Kalonzo as the preferred candidate for national leadership.

The Jubilee SG further highlighted Kalonzo’s longstanding ties with the Mt Kenya region, citing his role in safeguarding the late President Mwai Kibaki’s administration, which has earned him trust and admiration in the region.
