A devastating tragedy struck Kariakoo Market in Dar es Salaam when a four-storey building collapsed, claiming numerous lives, injuring many, and leaving others trapped beneath the rubble.

Among those trapped is a woman identified as Rahma Juma, who made a desperate plea for help. In a voice recording shared on TikTok by Mulastar 255, Juma tearfully stated that she has only one child and urged her family to care for him if she does not survive the ordeal.

Efforts to rescue those still trapped are ongoing as the community mourns the loss and prays for miracles amidst the disaster.

“I love you, and if God decides to take me, I have one child, take care of him, my brothers,” she said amid tears.

Juma further noted that her phone was going off, and she could not talk to her family and people on the surface to aid them once it shuts down.

“My phone is about to shut down. I have tried making calls, but the network is not going through, so I decided to buy data to reach anyone through the internet,” she said amid tears.

“Right now, we can only hear trembles. We do not know what is happening. I don’t know if I can communicate with you after this,” she added.

The woman revealed that she had gone to the market as a customer before the unfortunate incident, adding that she was stuck in the debris alongside the shop owner and another woman.

“I came here as a client. Now we are trapped down here with the shop’s owner, a man and another woman, please help us,” she stated.
