Florence Wanjiku, a 33-year-old woman, is recovering at Optimum Hospital in Nakuru after being brutally attacked by her estranged lover, Pastor Elias Njau, on Thursday, November 21.
Wanjiku, who sustained multiple stab wounds, recounted tearfully how the attack unfolded. She revealed that the incident occurred just hours after she met Njau at an entertainment venue. Following her decision to leave the premises, Njau allegedly began trailing her all the way to her home, where the violent assault took place.
The horrifying incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for swift justice to be served. Wanjiku remains in serious condition but is determined to recover and see her assailant brought to account.
The pastor, associated with the Jesus Compassion Ministry Church, reportedly carried out the attack at their shared residence in Rongai, Nakuru.
When asked about the incident, Wanjiku, speaking from her hospital bed at Optimum Hospital, recounted her ordeal to KTN. She revealed that she had met Pastor Njau earlier on Thursday at an entertainment venue to discuss both business and personal matters.
“We met, and the conversation was smooth. We discussed business-related issues and other issues that were a bit personal. We came to an agreement, and then I proceeded home. He followed me home, and when I was at the gate, he came attacking me,” Wanjiku said painfully.
She recalled the harrowing incident, saying that before Njau could reach her, she tried to drive away but accidentally struck his car, allowing him to catch up with her. Wanjiku said Njau dragged her out of the car before stabbing her in the head, hands, and legs.
“He came attacking me, I tried to drive off and run away. Unfortunately, I hit his car from behind. I locked the door, but the window was open. So he switched off the vehicle and took the keys. He proceeded to hit me on the head, using his hands to pull me outside. He then began stabbing me. I tried to protect myself with my hands. I lost my fingers,” she said painfully.
Wanjiku was rescued by neighbours who rushed to the scene and prevented her lover from harming her further. She was then rushed to the hospital for treatment. However, Njau followed her there and attempted to reach her, but security officers stopped her.
“Later on, he came here. He was at the gate and told the gateman that his wife was here with the kid, so he wanted to come in, but it was declined, she said.
How was Wanjiku’s relationship with lover? The entrepreneur said her relationship with the clergyman was strained, adding that she had moved out of the home they shared. However, Njau refused to accept the rejection and made it difficult for them to run the business they had started together.
“We have a company together, so there were huge issues. Other issues were I requested him to call it quits in our relationship. He also owes me some finances, so Iwas also requesting for that money,” she added.
