Joseph Kairo Wambui, widely known as Khalif Kairo, has been arrested and is currently detained at Kasarani Police Station. The prominent car dealer and social media figure is accused of defrauding a client out of millions under the guise of delivering luxury vehicles.
Kairo was apprehended on Tuesday, December 3. Kasarani Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer Justus Ombati stated that the businessman allegedly swindled KSh 26 million from the client and subsequently became elusive, failing to refund the money or provide the vehicles as promised.
“Yes, he is here. We arrested him today after he pocketed millions from a buyer and has been elusive to either refund the money or deliver the cars. There are more complainants who have turned up and we have opened a file on him,” Ombati confirmed.
He underscored that anyone in business must face litigations for whatever reason, stating he’s okay.
“Hizi challenges mnaona nikipitia are very normal in business, especially when a company is growing. Every big entrepreneur, at one point, must face litigation or money problems, especially when God is taking them to higher levels. To the ones reaching out, I am 100% okay, and I will overcome,” he wrote.
Kairo’s statement has drawn mixed reactions online, with some expressing skepticism over his justification and others showing support.
