The family of Erastus Nduati Muigai, whose burial ceremony descended into chaos, has distanced itself from the political leaders who attended the event. Erastus’ father, Muigai King’ori, clarified that no politicians had ever visited their home prior to his son’s death, dismissing allegations of their involvement in the attack on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The chaotic scenes at the burial also left the family grappling with financial losses, including damaged chairs they had hired for the ceremony. Limuru MP John Kiragu Chege came to the family’s aid, replacing the broken chairs and alleviating some of their financial burden.
“No one can stand in Limuru and claim they saw me interacting with any politician. So they didn’t involve me, and even before my son faced that problem, no honourable member had ever set foot in my home. Therefore, I have no association with any honourable leaders, nor did we conspire together,” he stated.Â
What losses did Erastus’ family incur
The grieving family further stated that their greatest loss apart from their son during the burial was the broken chairs. Hired, the family stated that they were facing a huge burden to buy new chairs until local MP John Kiragu Chege stepped in.
“When it came to the burial, the only challenge we had was with chairs. The honourable member has stepped in to assist, stood by me, and provided the chairs. I personally handed them over to the owner,” he added.
Elderly Man Curses Planners of Chaos at Limuru Funeral
In the aftermath of the chaos at Erastus Nduati’s funeral in Limuru, an elderly man expressed his outrage, cursing those responsible for orchestrating the disruption.
After calm was restored, the distressed elder lamented how a committee had been formed, and extensive efforts had gone into planning the funeral, only for the solemn event to be dishonored by violence. He passionately declared his wish that those who plotted the attack on mourners would one day endure the same pain and heartbreak they had inflicted on others.
