BREAKING: Angry Kaptagat Residents Hijack Police Land Cruiser to Demand Justice for Stolen Cow
In a dramatic turn of events at Kaptagat Police Station in Elgeyo Marakwet County, irate residents hijacked a police Land Cruiser after catching two officers slaughtering a stolen cow.
The officers, identified as Constables Chrispus Butali and Samwel Mbugua Njuguna, were caught red-handed by community members who had been searching for the missing animal. The cow, valued at approximately Ksh100,000, belonged to Mary Barmasai, who was devastated by the betrayal of trust.
Outraged by the officersโ actions, the residents stormed the police station, blocked the Kaptagat-Eldoret Road, and demanded immediate accountability. Tensions escalated, forcing police to fire warning shots in an attempt to disperse the angry crowd.
Police Assure Justice Will Prevail
Acting Elgeyo Marakwet County Police Commander Patrick Njoroge confirmed the arrest of the implicated officers and assured the public of thorough investigations.
โNo one is above the law. We will take appropriate action to ensure justice is served,โ he stated.
Residents Call for Accountability
The incident has sparked outrage and allegations that livestock theft in the area has been an ongoing issue, with suspicions pointing towards law enforcement officers.
โThis is not the first time weโve faced such betrayal. We demand a full investigation and accountability from the police,โ said one of the residents.
The community is now demanding sweeping investigations to restore trust in the police force and put an end to corruption within their ranks.
