Sniper’s Burial Postponed Indefinitely Amid Land Dispute

Meru-based blogger Daniel Muthiani, popularly known as Sniper, was allegedly murdered over a year ago, with his family vowing not to lay him to rest until justice was served.

Initially, the family had set December 13, 2024, as the burial date but later postponed it to December 27. Now, the burial has been delayed indefinitely due to a reported land dispute.

The latest postponement stems from allegations that part of the family land had been sold, complicating plans for Sniper’s final resting place.

In Kabuiti, Meru, where the burial was to take place, tensions remain high as the family grapples with unresolved issues surrounding the land, further prolonging the wait for Sniper’s funeral.

Why Was Sniper’s Body Preserved for Over a Year?

Initially, the family of Meru-based blogger Daniel Muthiani, known as Sniper, had planned to lay him to rest on December 13, 2024, marking a year since his tragic abduction and murder.

Despite five suspects being charged in connection with his death, local leaders and the Meru community have continued to demand the arrest of those who masterminded the heinous crime.

Sniper’s family made the difficult decision to preserve his remains for over a year as part of their pursuit of justice. They vowed not to proceed with the burial until those responsible were held accountable, rallying the support of well-wishers and community members in their fight for justice.

The burial was set to take place after prayers at Maili Tatu Stadium and a ceremony at his home in Kabuitu. However, plans for December 13 were abruptly canceled, and the date was postponed to December 27.

According to a Facebook post by Meru Daily, the delay was caused by a dispute over family land that had been sold, which hindered final preparations for Sniper’s burial.

Despite the ongoing challenges, the family remains steadfast in their commitment to justice, even as they navigate the complexities surrounding the burial arrangements.

“The delay has unearthed shocking details beyond the financial difficulties earlier cited by the family. It has now emerged that the family has no burial site, as the land they live on was sold at an unknown date, and the title deed is in the custody of the buyer,” read the Facebook post. “However, the recent discovery sheds new light on tjhe delays, pointing to the complexities surrounding their living situation and the land dispute,” read another part.
