Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has revealed that the 2024/25 season will likely be his last at Liverpool. The 32-year-old, now in the final year of his contract, admitted that discussions over a renewal have stalled.
Despite the uncertainty, Salah is enjoying another remarkable season and remains focused on his ultimate goal: winning the Premier League.
The announcement comes just days before Liverpool’s highly anticipated clash with Manchester United. Salah’s contract, along with those of teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is set to expire at the end of the season. Speculation has intensified around Salah’s potential move to Saudi Arabia, adding to the intrigue surrounding his future.
Salah shares update on future On Friday, Salah shared an update that will worry Liverpool fans. He said he wants to end his final season at the club with silverware, specifically the Premier League.
“We didn’t celebrate the one we won in the way we wanted and also, coming back here too, it’s my last year in the club so you want to do something special for the city,” he told Sky Sports.
Salah helped Liverpool win their first Premier League crown in 2020 but didn’t celebrate with the fans because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This season, they are six points clear at the top halfway through and are favourites to win it. He said there’s no progress in his contract talks with the club.
“So far, yes. It’s the last six months. There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see.” Will he stay at Liverpool?

Salah’s Impact at Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has been in outstanding form this season, tallying 20 goals and 17 assists across all competitions.
He currently leads the Premier League scoring charts with 17 goals in 19 matches and tops the assists table with 13, according to Transfermarkt. Salah is on course to claim his fourth Premier League Golden Boot.
Since joining the league in 2017, Salah has netted 174 goals and contributed 82 assists, placing him in the top 10 for both categories in Premier League history.
On Sunday, he is poised to surpass Thierry Henry, widely regarded as one of the league’s greatest players, in total goals. At Liverpool, only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt have scored more goals than Salah.
“If you then simply look at the numbers and the way he is playing and the work-rate he has for the team, he is definitely a great, great player,” Arne Slot said of Salah.Â
