The viral audio clip, “Dragon Testing Waaa,” continues to leave netizens in stitches!
The Shega hitmaker appeared on TV47 on Friday, January 10, where he charmed host Betty Kyallo with the backstory behind his quirky nickname, “Dragon.”
They also discussed their friendship that saw them go on a date in 2024 around February, after the singer made several requests to go out with the TV host.
She obliged him and they shared their evening with Kenyans.
“Unajua nilikuwa nimeangalia kule Tanzania, kuna wanyama, kuan Simba, kuna Chui, kuna tembo. Sa nikasema juu Dragon, hakuna mtu amejiita Dragon, juu ukiangalia kwa stori, so nikasema juu viel vitu nafanya, si kawaida, hazielweki. so niaksema wacha ni jina dragon ikuje”
Kyallo noted his massive transformation back in 2024, which Stevo explained to her.
“First of all I there are so many stylists out there, who are good, so I got in touch with one to see where I could go.”
The Mihadarati singer informed Betty that sometimes he was clueless about the outfits he wears
Stevo has also been experimenting with different hairstyles to complement his evolving image.
When it comes to his music, he’s mixing things up, too.
“My music has people scratching their heads over its genre,” he shared with a chuckle. “Some say it’s Gengetone, others call it Arbantone. Honestly, I haven’t even given it a name yet.”
Stevo is all about versatility: “Put me in hip-hop, I’ll shine. I don’t stick to one style,” he said. Reflecting on tougher times, he added, “When things fell apart with my management, it was just me and Machabe. We decided to keep going as a two-man team.”
Beyond releasing new music, Stevo ventured into various exciting projects last year, traveling across Kenya and even making a triumphant visit to Tanzania, where he was welcomed like a true hero. In December 2024, he participated in the prestigious Bongo Star Search.
“The judges told me I’m already a star and were curious why I auditioned,” he revealed with a grin. “But honestly, I was paid to make an appearance.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Stevo is eager to take his music to new heights with collaborations.
