Nairobi Matatu Drivers Protest, Play Football in the Streets
On January 30, 2025, matatu operators in Nairobi’s CBD staged a strike, protesting hawkers occupying their pick-up and drop-off spaces. The protest paralyzed Moi Avenue, Tom Mboya Street, Ronald Ngala Street, and Accra Road, with drivers resorting to playing football in the streets.
