“We deeply regret the actions of our son, which may have offended the President and others. If he is in government custody, we humbly request his release. We promise to discipline him and guide him on the right path,” the parents said.
Billy was reportedly abducted on December 21 while waiting for a haircut in Embu town. Witnesses allege he was taken by individuals believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), acting on orders from senior government officials. Two others, Bernard Kavuli and Peter Matuti, were allegedly abducted over similar online posts, and their whereabouts also remain unknown.
Billy’s parents admitted to being unaware of his online activities and asked for leniency. “We had no idea what Billy was doing online. If given a second chance, we will talk to him and correct his mistakes,” said Gerald.
The parents shared the anguish they have endured since Billy’s disappearance, noting the family did not celebrate Christmas. “We are living in torment. Christmas passed unnoticed. I only realized it was Christmas Day when I went to buy medicine and saw the empty streets of Embu town,” Gerald added.
Billy’s abduction sparked protests in Embu town on December 27, with residents and local business owners paralyzing transport and trade while demanding his release. The unrest coincided with President Ruto’s address at the Homa Bay Governor’s Cup, where he pledged to put an end to abductions, promising that no Kenyan would go missing under his watch.
The family remains hopeful for Billy’s safe return, urging authorities to show compassion and bring their ordeal to an end.
