William Ruto Launches Fierce Attack on Gachagua: “Incompetent and Corrupt”

The tension between President William Ruto and his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, has reached a boiling point as the two engage in a public war of words. For months, Ruto remained silent as Gachagua accused him of mismanaging the country and failing in his leadership.

However, during an address in Vihiga on Wednesday, Ruto broke his silence, delivering a scathing critique of Gachagua. The president accused his former ally of incompetence and corruption, claiming these were the reasons behind Gachagua’s removal from office.

Ruto’s remarks suggest he has grown tired of Gachagua’s persistent criticism, marking a significant escalation in their fallout. The once-strong alliance between the two leaders now appears fractured, with both openly challenging each other’s track records.

Speaking in Luanda, Vihiga county, on Wednesday, January 22, Ruto blasted Gachagua for advancing retrogressive political rhetoric that would otherwise divide Kenyans. Ruto revealed that Gachagua was impeached owing to incompetence, lack of know-how and corruption. “He is advancing divisive politics. They should look for a transformative agenda. These Kenyans cannot buy politics of division and hate. We gave them work, but because of incompetence, they do not understand, they are deceptive and corrupt, and their plan failed. We want to tell them they will continue failing because Kenya has no space for the corrupt and incompetent people and those diving the country on tribal lines,” said Ruto.
