Rodrick Lodge, a mzungu man, shared a heart-wrenching story of love and betrayal that has left him shattered.

  • Three years ago, during a memorable visit to Kenya, he met a friend who would unwittingly change the course of his life forever. This friend introduced him to a captivating woman named ‘Anita,’ sparking a whirlwind romance that blossomed across continents.
  • As a widower seeking companionship, Lodge found solace and joy in their online exchanges. Their connection deepened, and plans for a beautiful wedding began to take shape.

Rodrick Lodge, a 69-year-old widower, has found himself homeless and heartbroken after being swindled out of approximately KSh 14.3 million by a Kenyan lover who turned out to be nothing more than a mirage.

How did this unsuspecting man lose all his savings? It all began with a chance meeting three years ago when a friend introduced him to a charming woman named ‘Anita’ during his visit to Kenya. Despite their relationship existing solely in the digital realm—never once meeting in person—Rodrick fell deeply in love with her.

In a BBC report, Lodge shared how he wholeheartedly committed to their online romance, even planning to relocate to Nairobi to formalize their bond through marriage. However, the dream took a nightmarish turn when ‘Anita’ began making financial demands. She requested dowry payments and financial assistance to complete the construction of her home, claiming it was a prerequisite for their marriage.

What started as a hopeful love story soon spiraled into a devastating reality, leaving Rodrick not just without love, but also without a roof over his head—a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that come with online relationships.

“So, I started sending her money for various parts of the home, and she would send me pictures of the house being upgraded, as well as other pictures,” Lodge said.

Lodge continued to send financial support until he finally flew to Nairobi, only to face a harsh truth: the woman he had fallen for was nothing more than an illusion. To his shock, he discovered that the person behind the name ‘Anita’ was none other than a close friend he had met during his initial visit to Kenya three years ago.

“The agreement was that we’d properly meet in Nairobi, but that never happened and it turned out to be a scam and Anita never existed,” Lodge added.

Lodge returned home in the United Kingdom but is now on the brink of losing hope, as he currently has no place to stay.

“I am truly suffering because I have got zero. It has taken every penny I had and so I truly hope this evil woman rots in hell – I’m sorry to say that, but I really do,” he said.
