The University of Nairobi has officially addressed a letter from Geoffrey Mosiria concerning a viral video that alleged he was expelled from the institution.

The video, widely shared on social media, features Embakasi East MP Babu Owino claiming that Mosiria was expelled from UoN over incidents of sexual misconduct. Mosiria, Nairobi’s Chief Officer for Environment, responded by requesting that the university release any disciplinary records related to him.

In response to a letter from Mosiria’s legal team, Ayub Gitau, the acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, stated that no records exist indicating Mosiria ever faced a disciplinary committee or violated university rules.

“He successfully completed the course and was conferred a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Option) degree at Second Class Honors (Upper Division) at a congregation held at the University of Nairobi on December 14. Based on the information in our records, Geoffrey Mosiria Omatoke did not appear before any disciplinary committee for violation of university rules and regulations. There are no disciplinary actions or incidents recorded about the student up to his graduation in 2014,” UoN said in a letter seen by trendynews.co.ke.

Commenting on the university’s response, Mosiria stated that he feels vindicated regarding the defamatory video circulating online, which falsely accused him of serious misconduct during his time at the University of Nairobi.

He revealed that the video was recorded years ago during student leadership campaigns in which he was a candidate for one of the positions.

“The university has confirmed that at no point in my time as a student was I involved in any criminal or disciplinary incident of this nature. The records are clear, and I have been fully vindicated. To clarify, this defamatory video was initially created and circulated during my campaign for the SONU chairmanship, where my main rival unfortunately chose to resort to character assassination,” Mosiria said.
