Elias Mutugi Njeru, a businessman from Nakuru, has been granted a KSh 200,000 cash bail following accusations of stabbing his girlfriend, Florence Wanjiku Gichohi. Njeru, who is also a devout member of the Jesus Compassion Ministry in Nakuru, denied the attempted murder charge.
Principal Magistrate Daisy Mose issued the bail conditions, instructing Njeru not to interfere with the ongoing investigations or make contact with the victim. Alternatively, Njeru can opt for a bond of KSh 500,000.
Elias Njeru Granted Bail Despite Attempted Murder Charges
Elias Mutugi Njeru, a member of the Jesus Compassion Ministry, appeared before Principal Magistrate Daisy Mose at the Molo Law Courts on Monday, November 23, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder.
Despite the serious nature of the allegations, the court granted Njeru bail, citing that the prosecution failed to provide compelling reasons to deny his release.
However, Magistrate Mose imposed strict conditions, warning Njeru not to interfere with the ongoing investigations or approach the complainant, Florence Wanjiku Gichohi.
“The accused person has been instructed not to interfere with the ongoing investigations, and he should not go anywhere near the complainant,” she ruled.

Why Did Elias Njeru Allegedly Attack Florence Wanjiku?
The stabbing incident involving Elias Njeru and Florence Wanjiku Gichohi reportedly occurred at their home in Rongai, Nakuru. Speaking from Optimum Hospital, where she is receiving treatment, Wanjiku explained that the attack followed a conversation about their business and personal issues at an entertainment venue.
Wanjiku further revealed the challenges in their strained relationship, describing her failed attempts to end the union, which she claimed Njeru, a pastor, refused to accept. Police are continuing their investigation into the case, as Njeru awaits formal charges.
Following the attack, many Kenyans, including Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and actress Catherine Kamau, have voiced their support for Wanjiku, calling for justice amid growing concerns over rising incidents of femicide.
